- We offer a free pre-op consultation on the day of surgery. Most men attend for a clinic appointment on a day before their operation but this can be impractical if you are travelling a long distance and we can arrange for the consultation to be on the actual day of surgery.

What does the fixed price package cover?
This covers everything on the day of admission whilst you are in the hospital (the surgeon’s fee , the anaesthetist’s fee, nursing etc and food and parking). The hospital will cover your medical costs in the unlikely event you need re-admission to the St Edmunds Hospital during the initial 30 day post-op period.
You will not be charged for follow up visits if required. Please note that follow-up visits can only be booked at the St Edmunds Hospital.
Fixed price package arrangements are available from the hospital’s admission office.
Why does the cost of a vasectomy reversal vary so much (even between individual Circle Group hospitals)?
The cost in really very important as your are paying for the procedure yourself, and not through medical insurance or using the NHS.
Each and every hospital tries to price any given operation so as to make a profit whilst remaining competitive. The reality is that the overheads are roughly the same from hospital to hospital, apart from perhaps in some areas of inner London where nursing / support staff salaries and real estate costs will be higher.
Most of the variation the you see is accounted for by the individual surgeon’s fees and those of his anaesthetist. It has been our view that appropriately trained surgeons who undertake larger volumes of any given procedure should expect to have better outcomes that those who undertake an operation only occasionally. To ensure numbers we reduced our fees accordingly, but WITHOUT compromising quality, safety or outcomes.
Can I get this cheaper on this site or elsewhere?
The price quoted above is a fixed price so we cannot lower it, nor will we increase it if you need longer in theatre or in hospital. We have worked hard to keep our fees competitive, whilst providing a highly professional and safe service. Thus, if you have found a less expensive quote elsewhere then you should congratulate yourself. Remember to ask yourself 4 questions:
- Is the doctor registered with General Medical Council in his/her chosen area of expertise? Is your surgeon also an accredited NHS hospital-based consultant Urological Surgeon? That person may call himself /herself a ‘specialist’ or have ‘trained in urology’ for a period but do they have the ‘exit/completion of specialist training ‘qualification FRCS Urol? Are they on the Specialist Register? Where does the individual have a consultant post within the NHS?
- Are you being offered a general anaesthetic by a consultant anaesthetist? If you are being offered sedation, who will be looking after your breathing if you have a problem while the surgeon operates?
- Will the surgery be performed in a hospital setting? What back up do they have if anything crops up?
- Do you have to pay for appointments?
Will my insurance cover meet the cost of my vasectomy reversal?
No, unfortunately BUPA, AXA PPP, Aviva and the other major insurance companies do not cover any of the fees for a vasectomy reversal.
Any extras?
Most patients we see are from out of region. Accordingly, most will choose to have their sperm count performed locally nearer to their home so it would be unfair for these to have to pay twice. It is for that reason we have not included the price of the sperm count in the fee above.
You will incur a small charge wherever you have it done. The cost varies from area to area.
